PrimoChill also states that it will work with 16mm x 12mm or 16mm x 13mm rigid tubing as well. I have only tested it with 16/12 PETG tubing, but I feel that it will work just as well, if not better, on the other sizes of tubing listed. One thing to note, it is not recommended to use this tool with copper, steel, or other metal tubing, tubing made out of materials other than PETG, or acrylic, have the potential to dull the bit very quickly. So you will only want to use this bit on your plastic rigid tubes.

The bit’s design is actually very simple, and much like a router bit you might see in a woodworking shop. If you look more closely though, you will notice that off of each of the three spines on the bit is a small groove with a perfect 180° radius cut out of them. These grooves are where all the magic happens. Within the grooves themselves is a slight beveled edge, which is what cuts your tube.

The other notable feature of this bit, is the ball bearing at the end. This ball bearing fits snuggly within the inner diameter of the tubing, but still allows the tube to spin freely without being scuffed by the bit.

To use the RFB, all you need to do is install the bit in any electric drill by tightening down the chuck on the shaft of the bit. After that, slide your PETG or acrylic tube over the bearing and down into the grooves of the bit. Hold the tube firmly with one hand while you pull the trigger on your drill and slowly ramp the speed up. You don’t need to force the tube into the grooves, just let the bit do the work. It should only take about 10 seconds at a pretty minimal speed, to obtain a perfect chamfer on the end of your tube. If you want to take a bit of length off of the tube, you can speed the drill up to take material off faster. Once you’ve finished chamfering the end, you merely pull the tube off the bit, wipe off any debris, and wha-lah! You have one perfectly chamfered tube that shouldn’t have any potential to damage the O-rings in your compression fittings as well as make installation a bit easier.

Overall the Rigid Finishing Bit from PrimoChill is a very well built tool. I feel that it is a must have tool for any watercooler that plans on using rigid tubing. Not only does this tool save you time, it does a better job than any hand tool on the market.
