This pump is the world's first pump to be used in serial-production water-cooled workstations and is ideally suited for watercooling of processors and other electronic components. Thanks to its compact design and performance it can also be used for a multitude of other applications. This pump is an electronically commutated ball motor pump which offers running times of significantly more than 50.000hrs at 12 volts. The only moving part in a ball motor pump is the spherically shaped rotor unit which is resting on an ultra-hard, war-free ceramic bearing ball. A conventional shaft with bearings and gaskets is not needed! The spherical bearing of the rotor unit on a ceramic bearing ball offers a multitude of advantages: The development of bearing play is not possible with this design, hence keeping noise emissions to a minimum over the whole lifespan of the unit. The bearing is also self-adjusting and lubricated directly by the transported medium (wet rotor design). Maintenance of the pump hence becomes obsolete. As the rotor is held in place magnetically even smaller particles pose no problem for the operation of the pump. Blocking of the pump is virtually impossible under normal circumstances. Even after a longer period of non-operation a safe start of the unit is ensured. The permanently magnetic rotor unit is driven by a magnetic field which is produced by the surrounding stator. This stator is completely built around the rotor. Hence the whole pump with its 38mm of height is only slightly taller than the stator itself. It hence fits easily into all common PC-, Barebone- and Mini-PC cases. A separate magnetic shielding is usually not required. The ball motor principle allows energy-saving operation with comparatively high performance. By voltage variation the DC -operated pump can easily be adjusted in power. All materials in contact with the medium are completely corrosion-resistant.
IMPORTANT: We recommend the use of lubricating water additives such as AT Protect Plus or Innovatek Protect. Anti-Corro-Fluid is not recommended!
Please note: Due to the performance of this pump it may only be used in a loop with at least one waterblock. When used without load the pump may be damaged!
Please note: The electronics on this Laing pump is not water-resistant. Please always make sure to avoid any contact of the pump with water. When replacing the top makes sure that the gasket is correctly in position and if you are filling a Laing reservoir top make sure that no coolant is spilled. Damages by water/coolant are not covered by the warranty and will not be replaced by Laing!
Why is there a Laing and a Swiftech version? What are the differences?
There are no differences! But why the two versions? The explanation is as follows: Laing produces all pumps in Hungary. One version is intended for sale overseas and one is intended for the European market. The pumps themselves are hence completely identical, the only difference lies in the labelling. One is labelled as Swiftech as Swiftech is the distributor for the US market. The other version is just plain black. The more affordable Swiftech pumps are shipped including vibration absorbers, the standard pumps have such absorbers included. Every other feature such as performance, flow rates or pressure head is absolutely identical!
