The HD5800 series heatsinks are designed to cool surface mount components (memory, and mosfets) on ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 Series reference design graphics cards. They are designed to be installed in conjunction with our MCW60 VGA water-block and allow stable overclocks of these high-end graphic cards while keeping them cool and silent.

The performance advantage of using the MCW60 GPU cooler in combination with a heatsink compared to a full-coverage water-block solutions is well known among enthusiast users: improved thermal conductivity thanks to Swiftech's Diamond Pin Matrix, and less heat dumped into the liquid cooling loop coming from memory, and power mosfets since they remain air cooled.
